Note:

Redkin laboured as an electric welder before joining the newspaper “Kommunist” in 1928. In 1932 he moved to Leningrad to work for the Tass news agency. During World War II, Redkin was a photo-correspondent for several publications including the famous “Red Star”.

This famous black and white photograph of a defeated German soldier was taken by Redkin when he was working as one of the leading Soviet war photographers who documented the momentous historical events of World War II.
