Acquired directly from the artist by a prospector on Baffin Island during the late 1950’s.

Although this work is unsigned there are a few possible artists that come to mind, given the quality of the piece (talent of the artist), and the period and location that the work was acquired. Having reviewed publications and consulted with various experts, the name that bears the strongest likelihood is Sheokjuk Oqutaq. Other possible artists are Osuitok Ipeelee, Kaka and Kiawak Ashoona as well as Niviaxie.
