  • HENRY EVALUARDJUK (1923-2007)

The consignor, an employee with the RCMP from 1985-1990, tells that on a trip to Sanikiluaq in 1987, he and his father visited a quarry. Here, he harvested a small portion of the green stone. Upon his return to Iqaluit, the consignor implored Henry to carve him a bear. The result is this graceful polar bear, carved with the assurance and refinement so typical of Henry, in the soft argillite of Sanikiluaq.
