Lot Report

Note:

Excerpt from collector’s memoir:
Jim then took the etching of two caribou, and using paper and ink from the local school, produced a few prints which were received enthusiastically by Pootoogook. This very first print of Two Caribou and other early prints, including Pootoogook’s Woman, and Seal Hunter, were sold to the HBC. It put them on sale in Winnipeg in 1957, but there was little recognition of these prints as an exciting new art form at that time.
