Note:
Accordion music was introduced to the Inuit by European and American whaling crews sometime after its invention in the mid-19th century. The Inuit were exposed to the accordion while their services were enlisted on the whaling vessels. Likewise, the docked whalers would hold dances while in the local harbours.
