According to Gerard Morisset, this statuette was first modelled at the same time Suzor-Cote executed drawings to illustrate the first edition of Louis Hemon’s novel (1915-1916). The bronze was cast in 1925 and was shown at the annual R.C.A. exhibition held at the Art Association of Montreal the same year (letter from Morisset to the A.G.O., January 12, 1954).
