CLARENCE ALPHONSE GAGNON, R.C.A.
Provenance:
Masters Gallery Ltd., Calgary.
Private Collection, Calgary.
Note:
Painted circa 1923.
In 1919 Gagnon, newly-wed to Lucile Rodier, arrived in Baie-St-Paul where he was to live until 1924. Since the opening of the railway line linking it to Quebec City and Montreal, the region had become accessible even during the winter months. Over the next five years, Gagnon developed deep ties with its inhabitants.
