Lot Report

Provenance:

Acquired directly from the artist in 1980

Note:

This work is a synthesis of many of the elements that Ronald developed in his paintings – the central image, the borders of colour and the wavy horizontal lines serve to create and project forces that extend spatially beyond the limits of the canvas and provide a sense of unfolding planes of colour and depth in continuous motion. The central image fights for its freedom to float in infinity. The work references the central images of earlier paintings and the mural commission Homage to Robert Kennedy for the National Arts Centre, Ottawa.
