Provenance:

Acquired as a wedding gift from the artist by the present owner’s grandparents in 1926.

Note:

The year 1925 was significant for Carmichael who, with Brigden and Casson, was a founding member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour. In the autumn of that year, Carmichael made his first trip to Lake Superior with Harris and Jackson.
