Note:

Jackson, in his autobiography, writes that Banting’s first experience of painting out of doors in winter time was on a trip to Quebec. According to Jackson, St. Fidele was a remote little
village overlooking the St. Lawrence east of La Malbaie: “We spent several weeks there and Banting made great progress...He was careful not to let it be known he was a doctor; sometimes he would go under the name of Frederick Grant.”
