Note:

Riopelle first travelled to France in August of 1946. The following year, he began to lay the groundwork for his career overseas. The artist organized an Automatiste group exhibition with Fernand Leduc at the Galerie du Luxembourg and met the influential Parisian gallerist, Pierre Loeb, who would become his dealer by the early 1950s.
