Lot Report

Provenance:

Isaacs Gallery, Toronto.
Private Collection, Toronto.

Note:

Kurelek’s protagonist is a white rabbit emerging from a snowdrift onto a ski path. The winter scene is bright and brimming with energy. We can almost feel the rabbit’s hesitation and the speed of the skiers as they race down the hill, some choosing to make a right turn and take “the jump.” Kurelek depicts in fine detail a moment of enjoyment and leisure for the skiers with an added sense of danger for his protagonist.
