Note:

Peter White notes how Andrews’ “numerous prints on sporting themes, several of which were executed as potential designs for London Passenger Transport Board posters, reflect her appreciation of and interest in combination of strength and elegance that characterize the movement involved in such activities.” Football demonstrates the dynamism which permeated Andrews’ linocuts, the two opponents captured at the heightened moment of impact.
