Note:

Jackson and Hewton were lifelong friends; Hewton accepted Jackson’s invitation to participate in the very first Group of Seven exhibition held at the Art Gallery of Toronto in 1920. In the year following Hewton’s death, Jackson praised his dear friend noting that “[Hewton] was a good companion, friendly, sympathetic and generous in his estimate of others.”

This work is said to depict A.Y. Jackson.
