By descent to the present owner.

Note:

The present owner’s father was an advertising executive in Hamilton in the 1940s and 1950s. The company used Sampson Matthews ad agency where Casson was employed and this painting was gift to the present owner’s father. This work has remained in the same family for over six decades.
