Lot Report

Provenance:

Private Collection, Australia

Note:

Little is known about this rare editioned but unreleased Parr stonecut print dated to 1962, although a single example of the print is held in the collections of the West Baffin Cooperative archive.[1] The print is also documented as having been exhibited in 1963 at a retrospective held at Abbot Hall Art Gallery in Kendal England showing the collection of Charles Gimpel, however no further information is provided. [2] An important and intriguing addition to the seven officially released editioned Parr prints from 1962, the unknown history of The Cariboo Hunt may yet be illuminated through further research. The present example was located in a private collection in Australia.
