Lot Report

Note:

This painting is part of a series titled, Rubus armeniacus, which speaks to the overall theme of entanglement. Creating gestural marks with oil paint I resolve to capture a visceral feeling of entanglement both as subject matter and as the structural aspects of paint. The subject matter of blackberry brambles, reflects the physical and mystical complexity of both Mother Nature and human nature: the patterns of growth, the structure of the canes and fruit and the random chaos of the brambles itself. This complexity is a metaphor for our own entanglement with self, others and nature.
