Lot Report

Note:

I look at the Arbutus trees in the evening sunlight, and I am captivated by the light rippling though the leaves, the colours constantly shifting, blurring, fading. Nothing stays still. How can I possibly capture my feeling of wonder? My piece, 9:02 pm #5, attempts to do this by integrating two very different practices. I use intentional camera movement to capture streaks of light and colour in a jerky iPhone photograph. I then amplify these striations by hand-stitching them with lustrous silk thread. The first is accomplished in a moment, and the second over hours of stitching.
