Note:

Harry Pollard was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario. Arriving in Calgary in 1899, he opened a photographic studio there. In addition to his studio work, he travelled throughout southern Alberta photographing people and places during a period of rapid change. He regularly visited the Indigenous people of southern Alberta, and over time was able to build relationships which in some cases he documented over a period of years. In 1924 Pollard became an official photographer for the Canadian Pacific Railway. Harry Pollard retired in 1954 after a long and distinguished career. In 1964 the Pollard collection of photographic negatives was purchased by the province of Alberta and preserved in the Provincial Archives of Alberta.
