Lita Albuquerque, based in Santa Monica, California, emerged on the art scene in the 1970s after studying with American installation artist, Robert Irwin. Albuquerque is considered a pioneer of California Minimalism. It is reported that the quality of light in Los Angeles inspired the movement’s foremost artists to experiment with environment, light and the ways that viewers experience it.
