Note:

Verner's Low Country, depicting old oak trees draped in Spanish moss, pays homage to her home and early life in Charleston, S.C. She studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts under American artist Thomas Anshutz (1851–1912). By the 1930s, Verner had established herself as one of Charleston's leading artists focusing on the daily life and beauty of South Carolina's Low Country. Verner worked mainly in pastels, block prints and etching.
