LA DANSE II, 1938 [DUTHUIT BOOKS, 67]

A six-colour lithograph (blue, green, red, brown, yellow and black) with vertical centerline fold and margins as published and stitch holes with two original colour linocuts by Matisse on the verso with window cut-outs, each signed with initials "HM" in the plate. Printed by Mourlot, Paris. Published by Teriade for Verve, No. 4, 1938, in an edition of ca. 1200.

Note:

This color lithograph is after the painting from 1909, now at the Hermitage, Saint Petersburg, Russia. It was created by Matisse for Verve and printed under his direction. There are two original linoleum cuts printed on the reverse. Matisse had painted two versions of his famous painting of the same title, one in the Barnes Collection, the other in the Hermitage Museum.
