Note:

A totem of American Abstraction, Ellsworth Kelly’s works have remained at the forefront of this genre and Blue/Green (EK70-336), 1970 captures this to perfection. Influenced by the French Abstract style of the 1950s of the Paris School (including artists such as Jean Arp and Constantin Brancusi), Kelly developed the visual language for geometry, primary shapes and vibrant colours. Exhibitions by major museums have been dedicated to the practice of his printmaking craft – his prints have their own distinct voice and gravitas.

Blue/Green displays the perfect balance between silkscreen colours and the white surrounding space. The optical effect achieved by the green and blue triangles perfectly brought together, demonstrate the precision, finesse and delicacy of Kelly’s talent.
