Note:

William Von Moll Berczy was born in Saxony in 1744, moving to New York State in 1792. He settled in Upper Canada in 1794, working as a builder in Toronto and Montreal before becoming an artist in Quebec City. The artist’s work in portraiture and miniatures is included in collections across Canada, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Musée du Quebec and the Quebec Seminary
