Lot 15
SILASSIE TUKI (b.1919)

Additional Images

Provenance:
Private collection, Hamilton, ON
Note:
In this charming and classic early Inukjuak composition of stone and inset ivory, we see the precision in form and refined treatment of surface that characterize the early work of the sculptor Silassie Tuki. A finely rendered seal hunkers down on an ice flow above two decidedly folky carvings of fish inset into the sculpture’s surface—just out of reach of their mammalian companion.
