Lot Report

Note:

A photograph depicts the past the moment it is created - the event as captured has already gone. An elderly lady pauses to admire a costumed mannequin in a shop window, and we are left to wonder whose past both she, and we, are observing. I imagine her changing places with the dancer, and somehow, it feels right.

About the Artist:
Sylvia Galbraith is a photographic artist whose traditional methods of image creation are paired with a contemporary practice using video and installation. Drawn to landscape and documentary photography, she is never without a camera; everything around her is viewed with a photograph in mind.

Galbraith has exhibited across Canada and beyond, with work in private, corporate and public collections.
