Note:

At the age of ten, George Reid announced to his skeptical farming family that he intended to be a painter of pictures. Reid attended art school in Toronto and then studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, one of the leading institutions of the day. Two decades later he would become founding president of the Ontario College of Art.
