This political cartoon was published in the Hamilton Spectator newspaper on December 12, 1968

Note:

The Liberal Party of Canada leadership election in April 1968 elected Pierre Elliott Trudeau as its new leader. Trudeau would go on to defeat Conservative Robert Stanfield in the June 1968 federal election and form a majority government.

MacDonald was the editorial cartoonist of the Hamilton Spectator for 30 years until his retirement in 1993. During his career he was awarded National Newspaper Awards, a Reuben Award and a Salon of Cartoons Grand Prize.
