Note:

Depicting the clipper ship Witchcraft dashing through stormy seas, McVittie has immortalized a ship that once set the record in 1854 for the fastest passage from New York, around the tip of South America, to San Francisco in 98 days. She was described as a beautiful ship with a figurehead of a grim Salem witch riding on her aerial broomstick
