Note:
Figures in boats, whether they be animals, human, spiritual or mythical feature prominently in Anghik's work.
Family and kinship groups would periodically migrate to new places when survival issues occurred. Traveling in boats placed their fate in the hands of Sedna, the sea goddess who provided the sea animals to humans as food. Traveling on water, migrators placed their trust In her protection as they moved to a new place of plenty.
The presence of spirit animals in the bow and stern of this boat suggests that the journey is not only physical, but spiritual as well.
