Created By: The class of 5/6 M, 2008-2009, at Aurora Senior Public School, Aurora, Ontario

Quilt Story: This quilt was completed by a grade 5/6 class at Aurora Senior Public School, as a math assignment on fractions, decimals and percent. Each student designed their own square and calculated the area for each shape and colour. They made their own patterns, cut, sewed, ironed and quilted their own design. The teacher sewed the squares together and added the border. Along the way, the students learned the history of quilting and listened to quilt stories (The Quiltmaker's Journey, The Quiltmaker's gift). Through the stories, the students learned the lesson of giving a quilt away to help others.

Pattern: The students in the class created their own patterns
