Fine Wine Fever in February

By: Joann Maplesden

Brooding or ethereal – winter is the perfect time to contemplate wine

Whether your preference is for deep, brooding Bordeaux or ethereal, sublime Burgundy, there is no better time to deeply contemplate a fine wine than in the depths of winter. Braise a joint of lamb, prepare a rich fish stew or ratatouille, decant something precious and invite your dearest, or most wine-enthused friends, or family to the table.

In order to assist in these noble endeavours, we invite you to participate in our February auctions of Fine and Rare Wine and Spirits. Our auctions this winter are panoramic in their scope – Bordeaux in case quantity, or in mixed lots, a fine selection of great ready to drink Burgundy, a plethora of the best of Italy, Barolo, Brunello, Super Tuscan and Amarone. First growths are strongly represented, Mouton Rothschild, Margaux, Lafite and Latour, many from top vintages. Burgundy from Rousseau, Dujac, Drouhin, Bouchard, Laurent and many others is sure to appeal to all collectors.

We would be remiss if we failed to mention the vast selection of spirits in both the Fine Spirits auction and Part III of the Tom Willcock Collection. This collection features many superb whiskies from both giants such as Macallan and Rosebank, as well as producers no longer in existence, yet legendary among collectors.

We invite you to participate online from February 18 through 26 and join us for our Live Auction on February 23 at 2:00 pm at our King Street, Toronto gallery. If you wish, please join us for a superb luncheon preceding the auction (limited tickets still available); please contact us soon as possible at [email protected].

We look forward to yet another season of outstanding Fine Wine and Spirits at Waddington’s.

Stephen, Joann and Devin
