清 祁阳石雕'芙蓉童子拜观音'桌屏

《长物志》载：『永石即祁阳石，出楚中，石不坚，色好者有山水、日月、人物之象，紫花者稍胜，然多是刀刮成，非自然者，以手摸之凹凸者可验，大者以制屏亦雅。』祁阳石产自湖南永州祁阳县，其质细腻，色多紫色，表层多有白、绿、黄等石层，工匠因地制宜，深浅雕刻，俏色而成，如同赋彩，以之制作砚台、座屏等。清代宫廷亦有数件祁阳石屏，属于地方进贡之物。故宫博物院藏有楠木镶祁阳石菊花图插屏，构图与此例相似，可作对比品鉴，应同为祝寿用具
