Note:

Louis Bako fled as an émigré to Canada with his family in 1958 following Soviet suppression of the Hungarian Revolution. He received his Fine Arts degree, working under Ivan Eyre and Cecil Richards at the University of Manitoba, before studying set design at the National Theatre School in Montreal.

Bako began his studio practice upon returning to Winnipeg in the late 1960s. During his long career, he has produced set designs, public art works, sculpture, paintings and drawings.

His work is in public and private collections in Canada, Chicago, Los Angeles, Budapest and Vienna.
