Guy Maddin has directed or co-directed 21 movies, including The Green Fog (2017), The Forbidden Room (2015), My Winnipeg (2007), and The Saddest Music in the World (2003). He has also had more than seventy performances of his films featuring live elements – orchestra, sound effects, singing and narration, world-wide.
Maddin is a Member of the Orders of Canada and Manitoba and is the recipient of numerous Canadian and international awards, including an Emmy, two Geminis and a Genie. In 1995 he was the youngest artist given the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Telluride Film Festival. In February of this year all his films will be livestreamed on The Criterion Channel in honour of his 65th birthday.
Since 2011, Maddin has collaborated with Galen Johnson and Evan Johnson under the banner Development Ltd., their Winnipeg-based filmmaking collective. He has taught at Harvard and currently lectures in film at the University of Toronto.
