About artist/note:
In Regina Saskatoon Highway... Kurelek seems to emphasize the momentary ability of man to bridle the power of the natural landscape. The viewer is at once struck by the vastness of the scene and the imposing order of manmade systems. The highway trails off into the distance with no destination in sight, yet the pathway is cleared, the bright orange of the snow fence holds the cold banks at bay and the rigid telephone poles seem to act as repetitive beacons of reassurance. There is a courage and endurance to the scene: the endless possibilities of the open road, a few whisps of snow hardly a deterrent to keep us from the journey ahead.
