Note:

Schaefer was very close to his grandfather, whose house is depicted in this lot. Schaefer’s grandfather was a furniture finisher by trade and Schaefer reminisces: ”Here was a man doing something with his hands; I was impressed and fascinated. I wanted to be using mine.”
