KOEN VANDERSTUKKEN

“If you let yourself get blinded by the immaterial materiality of glass, you will never get beyond the seduction and deceit of the material. Only when you consider glass as the material component of an immateriality, you will be able to overcome the functionality and the mystery of the material in a fundamental way.”

- Koen Vanderstukken -

Koen Vanderstukken is a renowned sculptor and educator. His work has been exhibited in major centres around the world, from Amsterdam, Paris, Prague and Venice to New York, Chicago and Montreal. He ran his own studio in Niel, Belgium from 1990 to 2006 and his glass can be found in many museum and private collections, as well as significant public commissions. Koen has offered workshops and master classes in Europe and North America, in addition to teaching for ten years at the State Institute of Art and Crafts in Mechelen, Belgium. Since 2006 he has been a professor and the studio head of the glass department at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario.
