Literature:

Marchessault, Robert, Artist Statement, Accessed 14 February, 2017, http://www.robertmarchessault.ca/statement.html

Note:

“My paintings are an active response to a sense of wonder at being in the world…I try to express and/or reflect on my mind-state while contemplating experiences I have had - mostly outdoors,” explains Canadian painter Robert Marchessault. Using memory rather than on-site sketches or photographs of Northern Ontario, the American Southwest and Europe, Marchessault visually distills his experiences to create ethereal landscapes. His work focuses on various states of nature and captures the sense of losing oneself in deserts, mountains and open plains.
