Inky colored and still a monster of a wine that has a wealth of fruit and texture, the 2007 Gigondas Prestige des Hautes Garrigues is locked and loaded with notions of smoked meats, ripe currants, black raspberries, singed garrigue and chocolate. Still youthful and vibrant, with its oak elevage absolutely covered by a wealth of fruit, it has awesome purity, ripe tannin and a finish that just won't quit. Count yourself lucky if you have any of this in the cellar. February 2017 WA 98

Up with the 2007 and 2001, the sensational 2010 Gigondas Prestige des Hautes Garrigues is a full-bodied, incredibly rich, yet pure and balanced Gigondas that offers off-the-hook notes of graphite, creme de cassis, licorice and roasted herb aromas and flavors. It's still a baby and needs to be forgotten for 3-4 years, but it will have 2-3 decades of overall longevity. It could be a candidate for perfection at maturity. October 2016 Drink: 2020-2035 WA 97+
