DOMAINE CHARVIN CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE 2006 (3)
Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
u. 2 x 1 cm. 1 x 2 cm. 1 x scuffed label
Charvin’s 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape has turned out to be one of the vintage’s top efforts. Lovely sweet notes of glove leather, roasted meats, spice box, ground pepper, kirsch, and raspberries are present in this deep, full-bodied 2006. More evolved than the 2007, with copious concentration, elegance, and a Burgundy grand cru-like complexity as well as freshness, it should be enjoyed over the next 12-15+ years. October 2008 WA 93
DOMAINE CHARVIN CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE 2007 (3)
Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Never one of Laurent's favorite vintages (although I suspect he's warmed up to it slightly), the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape continues to drink brilliantly, and while this bottle was just slightly closed, I’ve had numerous bottles from my cellar that are open and singing. Nevertheless, on this occasion, it took some swirling to get it to open up and it’s a concentrated, structured, full-bodied beauty that has the classic elegance of the estate yet with another level of fruit and exuberance. It’s just at the early stages of full maturity, is a smoking good drink and will keep for another 10-15 years. February 2017 WA 96
