Provenance:

Private collection, Ontario

Note:

A master of the restrained Arviat style, Luke Anowtalik gives us the image of an embracing mother and child, sculpted in subtle contours. The v-shaped legs of the child point upward in the composition and draw our eye to the face of the mother. The eyes and mouth exude a pervasive sense of calm although implied with only a whisper of carving.
