In her biographical notes on McEwen in 1964, Naubert-Riser writes: "The work accomplished during this year represents a culmination point in the artist's development...After his Paris exhibition McEwen visits the Island of Majorica; this trip marks the start of a new series entitled Hommage au soleil that is represented in October at the Galerie Agnes Lefort in Montreal."
