Note:

Recognition as an artist came early to Casson. In 1923, two years after his first appearance in its exhibitions, he was elected as a member of the Ontario Society of Artists. The same year, his first major canvas was acquired by the National Gallery of Canada (entitled Clearing). Another canvas, Grey Day, Lake Kashagawigamog was exhibited at the Royal Canadian Academy in 1923.
