CONDITION DETAILS
The canvas is relined. Upon close inspection, there is evidence of crazing and cracking paint in the upper left sky and in other small areas, such as on the figure and on her face, but not overly noticeable from a comfortable viewing distance. There is a tiny vertical white spot on the figure’s skirt; it is slightly raised and there is a tiny scuff in the paint that looks like a drop of white liquid. There is a black stencil number: 406 VR to the stretcher.
Ultraviolet light examination: There are tiny touches of overpaint to the figure’s face on top of the dirty paint. Her cheek (left) has an approx. 1" circular overpainted spot and there are some fine lines of overpaint on her face (filled-in but not excessively). The tiny lines that are filled in with overpaint would disappear or appear minimized with cleaning. There is a touch of overpaint in the upper left on one of the fruits; an overpainted spot jumps out at the left side and there is overpaint on the figure’s dress upper right. The canvas was cleaned previously but not entirely, which is beneficial as the paint has not been skinned or overcleaned. Some spots may still require cleaning.
