Provenance:

Private collection, Hamilton, ON

Note:

Although tentatively attributed to Lucy Tikiq Tunguak and closely related to a signed composition by the artist sold at Waddinton’s in November 2010, this sculpture is an unusually confident and well-finished example of the artist's work. We can not help but note that the carving is quite reminiscent of the sculpture of Tunguak’s Baker Lake contemporary Miriam Marealik Qiyuk. Whoever’s hand is behind the work, its sumptuously refined organic form makes it a delight to both hand and eye.
