Broadly, the artist composed figural works (see lot 74) and this composition stands out within Ennutsiak’s oeuvre. Though atypical for the artist, this work is not less skillfully carved. Here, the subject is a small lemming that has clambered into a quilliq. A quilliq (kudlik), is the traditional oil lamp used by Inuit.
