Note:

A collection of candy-coloured packages populate the big-box store that is the subject of Roy Arden’s Walmart Store Burnaby B.C (Royale), printed in 2004. Seasonal decorations are interspersed among packages of toilet paper and laundry detergent, interrupting the generic gleam of commercial goods with a disconcerting sense of localness. Arden’s photographs of places and spaces in and around Vancouver frequently grapple with the rapid changes the city has undergone in recent decades. Walmart Store Burnaby B.C (Royale) forms part of a number of notable collections internationally, including that of Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, NY.
