Note:

The 1,200 tonne 'Thomas Carlton' was a buoy service vessel ordered by the Department of Transport and the first ship to be built at the St. John shipyard in six years; it was hoped to be the beginning of a revitalisation of the industry in New Brunswick. K. C. Irving interests had acquired the Dry Dock the previous year.

Thomas Carlton (1735-1817) was the 1st Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick, in office from 1786 until his death.

Alfred Johnson Brooks (1890-1967) was a Canadian parliamentarian and a Senator from 1960 until the defeat of the Diefenbaker government in the 1963 federal election.
