Two Letters Signed by Governors General, 1898 and 1936
1) John Buchan, 1st Baron Tweedsmuir, (1875-1940), typed letter signed, one page, 4to., dated at The Citadel Quebec, 3rd August 1936, to Harold Seton, acknowledging receipt of a photograph of King George V at Annapolis in 1920. “Curiously enough when the President (Roosevelt) was here on Friday, in proposing to the King’s health at luncheon, he reminded us that he had proposed it last in 1920 at Annapolis."
2) John Campbell Hamilton-Gordon, 1st Marquess of Aberdeen and Temair, (1847-1934), autograph letter signed, three pages dated at Government House, Ottawa. April 18, 1898, to Lord Charles (Beresford), arranging meeting with the Mayor of St. John, New Brunswick, who in Aberdeen’s view has done an admirable job of improving the harbour facilities.
